Weekend Activities Set

Friday, August 17
We are meeting this first night at the Paris Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip for a wild show with X-Rated Hypnotist, Anthony Cools. This guy is hilarious and his show will be one to remember for a long time! Tickets are $52.75 per person + $6.75 Ticketmaster Rip Off, oops, Convenience Charge = $59.50 and the show lasts 90 minutes. You can purchase your tickets by going to this link: http://tinyurl.com/272m4d
His shows routinely sell out and it is highly advisable to purchase your tickets well in advance. I do not know if they accept walk-ins at the door.

Immediately following the show, we’ll be heading over to Napoleons, a bar located in the hotel for some drinks and to “talk story”.

Cost for the night depends on if you want to go to the show and how much you want to drink later at the bar.

Saturday, August 18
Our only “formal” get together that day is a sit down dinner at Bally’s Steakhouse at the Bally’s Hotel and Casino on the Strip. Dinner is at 7 pm and will consist of the following:

Steakhouse Salad
Butter Lettuce with Selected Mesclun, Spicy Cashews,
Tear Drop Tomatoes &Walnut Vinaigrette
Choice of Entrée
New York Sirloin
-Char-Broiled 16 oz. Strip
-Served with a choice of Béarnaise, Green Peppercorn or Morel Mushroom Sauce
Or Atlantic Salmon
-Pan Seared with Cipollini, Roma Tomatoes, Baby Artichoke Hearts & Chive Infused Oil
Or Roasted Chicken with Fine Herbs
-Oven Roasted Half Chicken with Oyster Mushrooms, Root Vegetables

Entrées are served with Potatoes & Fresh Vegetables

Dessert
Crème Brulee
Vanilla Custard with Fresh Fruit,
Whipped Cream & a Caramelized Sugar Crust

Coffee Service
Coffee, Decaffeinated Coffee or Tea Service
$58.95 per person
All Prices Subject to 7.75% State Sales Tax & 20% Service Charge = $76.22 total

I realize that $76.22 is a lot for a dinner but the only other way to eat as a group would be at a buffet. We felt that a sit down dinner, while more expensive, would be less of a hassle for everyone. You wouldn’t have to constantly get up to get your food and you’d have more time to talk and socialize if the food came to you instead. We are totally open to other ideas though so if you would like to suggest something else, perhaps a little more reasonable, please do. If we don’t hear from anyone, this is the plan we’re going with. If we end up going with a sit down dinner at Bally’s Steakhouse, in order to save you and possibly your spouse a seat, I’d need to have your payment of $76.22 per person sent to me by July 14th. At that point, I would contact the restaurant with the final headcount and confirm our reservation. Checks can be sent to my home address, 4083 Puaole St, Lihue, HI 96766 and should be made out to “Kauai HS Class of ‘87”. Please do not make out the check to my name. By the way, this is one of the cheapest sit down dinners we could find for parties of 14 or more.

Following dinner, we could either gamble at the casino, move to another casino, or go to a bar or club somewhere else.

If you are planning to attend, please drop us a line so that we can get an idea of who will be making it. We started off with a lot of interest for a Vegas Reunion but as we’re getting nearer to the actual date, lots of “Guarans, I going!” are turning into, “Sorry, I can’t make it.” Either way, if we’re a party of 5 or a party of 50, we’re still going so we hope you can join us!

If you have any questions or want to suggest other ideas, please email me.

Reunion Set for Weekend of August 17-19, 2007

We've finally nailed down a weekend for the 20th Class Reunion for the Kauai High School Class of '87. It'll be held on Admission's Day weekend, August 17-19, 2007, in LAS VEGAS! Yep, that's right, we're going to Sin City to celebrate our 20th so request your vacation time, get the in-laws to watch your kids, and start making plans to be there with the rest of your classmates. Tentatively, we're making plans to be down on the Strip at the New York New York Hotel and Casino, but the site isn't finalized at this point. How can that be? We're making this reunion totally informal. If you show up, you show up. If you don't, you don't. It's that simple. We've had a hard time getting a banquet room at a hotel during the summer months so we're going to set up some meeting places over the weekend and let everyone know about it. We'll probably plan a dinner someplace on Friday and Saturday night and for that, we'll just request an RSVP so we can reserve the right amount of spaces. We'll also have a room set up at the site hotel where people can come and mingle and drop by.

So spread the word and tell every classmate you know about the dates. If you have any questions, feel free to email us at redraiders87@mac.com.

October Update

Ok, I'm not sure if anyone ever reads this or not but I ran into some classmates this weekend at a party and one of them had a great idea that we never even thought of before....screw the banquet and the sit down dinner, let's rent a hotel suite! I like that idea much better because we're having problems finding a banquet room anyway and we'd have to deal with committing to like 50 people paying for dinner. This way, if people flake out and decide not to come (even after they said "Vegas for sure!") we won't get stiffed when it comes to paying for the banquet bill. We could get a suite at some hotel somewhere, have dinner and possibly watch a show, and then end at a club someplace. This way people can pay for what they want to go to and we don't have to worry about getting "X" many people to come. Email me your thoughts or comments....if anyone ever reads this!

Welcome Fellow KHS '87 Red Raiders!

We're about a year away from our 20th (yikes!) class reunion and we're going to be using this site to keep everyone up to date on our reunion plans for 2007. Please spread the word to our fellow classmates and send them to this site to give us your current contact information so that we can keep you informed. We'd love to have you comment on the postings as well but to do that, you'll need to send us your email so that we can send you an invitation. We're going to keep this site semi-private so that only fellow classmates can post for security reasons.

We're looking for some help to plan the reunion so if you would like to offer your expertise, please drop us a line at redraiders87@mac.com. Currently there are a few of us on the "committee": 1) Myself, Kevin M., 2) Vernon Y., & 3) Corey N.

Right now, we haven't done a whole lot except to create this site and start the process so we have our work cut out for us. A lot of classmates have come up to me asking if we can have our reunion in Las Vegas so we're seriously looking at that. No dates or locations have been set yet so keep checking back for more info.

Tell everyone you can about this website and our email address!
